Synopsis |
On the tiny West African island of Tierro, a series of horrific and unexplained deaths have occurred amongst warring rebel and government forces. The Tierrian President is convinced the rebels have biological weapons yet others believe the culprits are mosquitoes, the victims allegedly suffering an extreme form of yellow fever. Sahib Kaur, a crusader for ethical controls on genetic experimentation, is on Tierro illegally, checking the legacy of Epigen, a biotech firm once based on the island. Long suspicious of Epigen's motives, through a series of disturbing events, Sahib unravels a plot that involves the deployment of genetically-modified (GM) crops to deliver genetic change to a species of mosquito. With time running short and precious little resource, Sahib reconciles that only a human sacrifice, smeared with poison, will defeat these deadly creatures. Sadly, she may have to be that sacrifice… |
